About

Central Southern England; The New Forest, the Solent, Salisbury Plain and the Jurassic Coast of Dorset. This is my little corner of the world – hills, forests, wild heaths, dramatic coastlines and the ever-changing restless sea, all transforming with the passing of the seasons.

Recently retired, I finally have the time to catalogue and share the keepers from fifty years of photography, so this is my photographic chronicle exploring the landscape and environment of the New Forest and surrounding Wessex. It is a diary of this corner of the world which, despite its compactness, displays so many dramatic shifts of scenery as the cycle of the seasons rolls on, year after year.

Although the blog began as a simple photo diary – and it most certainly, above all else, remains so – as the entries accumulated, another theme emerged, that of human activity and climate change creeping, often imperceptibly, over my local environment. And so, quite by accident, an ‘unintentional eco blog’ evolved, where the beauty of the natural world collides with the complex realities of the effects of our activity.

Enjoy…
